On all the sites, there was a metamorphosis of natural and degraded forests and agricultural bush fallow, into plantations of forest bushes and different cash crops, established by farmers. The land-use changes coincided with fast economic development, introduction of market financial policies, land-tenure reforms and the emergence of recent wood-consuming industries. The question we should ask is, how can life be sustained and reproduced amid the lack of the basic situations for it? Today, in the face of COVID-19, domestic and care work has taken on new significance. This is work that girls do and have accomplished since time immemorial, carrying the capitalist economic system upon their shoulders.
