Baiga women in Phulwariapara was afraid of the Forest Department and would wait until nightfall to return to their homes. They have grown bamboo and fruit bushes, developed seed banks and prepared a biodiversity register. A little over 21,000 Baigas reside within the forests of Bilaspur district within the Central Indian State of Chhattisgarh.
